Australia is the happiest place to live.
The country has retained top spot in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's annual Better Life Index. The OECD ranks the world's developed economies according to 11 different criteria it views as essential to a happy life.

Australians enjoy low pollution and high levels of personal security. They rank top in civic engagement, and above average in health, housing, social connections, and income.

The downside? Australians find it difficult to strike a balance between work and life. They work some of the longest hours in the developed world, and devote the least time to leisure and personal care, the OECD said.

Sweden has overtaken Norway to claim second place in the ranking. The Scandinavian country ranks top for quality of the environment, and above average in work-life balance, life satisfaction, health, and education.

The OECD has been searching for the key to happiness and well-being for nearly 15 years. A lead researcher with the organization, Romina Boarini, said the Better Life Index takes account of some traditional measures -- such as income and employment -- but tries to get to the heart of what makes people happy by including other factors.

Swedes enjoy high household income and good job security. Sweden's worst indicator is personal safety. The report said 5.1% of people reported falling victim to assault over the previous 12 months, above the OECD average of 3.9%.

How to Apply

Attend Your Visa Interview

During your visa interview, a consular officer will determine whether you are qualified to receive a visa, and if so, which visa category is appropriate based on your purpose of travel. Ink-free, digital fingerprint scans will be taken as part of your application process. They are usually taken during your interview, but this varies based on location.

When the visa is approved, you may pay a visa issuance fee if applicable to your nationality, and will be informed how your passport with visa will be returned to you. Change of Status

Requesting a change of status from USCIS while you are in the United States and before your authorized stay expires does not require that you apply for a new visa. Schengen Visa Application Requirements

When applying for a Schengen Visa in order to travel to one or more of the Schengen Zone countries there are some requirements one has to establish prior to the application. If you are planning to travel to more than one Schengen country its best if you apply in the Embassy/ Consulate of the country you will be staying at the most, regarding the residing days. Once you are issued a multiple entry visa you are able to travel to all of the Schengen Zone countries for the time permitted on the visa.
When applying for the visa you should bear in mind that you have to personally hand the required documents once you’ve made an appointment at the embassy/consulate. Every Schengen country shares more or less the same requirements into issuing a visa to the needy party. • The formal invitation by the relative/friend residing in a Schengen country.
• If the applicant will be covering the expenses on his/her own, the relatives/friends name, address and the copy of their passport will suffice. In case that the friend/relative is not a citizen of this Schengen country, the copy of the residency permit will also be required.

Tourist travel (no visit to any relatives/friends)

• The applicants bank statement (preferably for the last 6 months)
• The detailed itinerary of the traveling days in the Schengen Zone, hotel reservations or a formal invitation letter by a resident of a Schengen country.

Business travel purpose

• A cover letter explaining the purpose of the visit to the Schengen country
• A short profile of the applicants working place  (company/organization)
• Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint stock companies)/ Trade License (first issued and present renewal)/ Proprietorship/Partnership documents.
• Current bank statements
• A letter from ones employer meticulously describing the purpose of the travel as well as the itinerary of the days spend within the Schengen zone.
• The invitation letter from the partner company in the Schengen zone, faxed also to the corresponding consulate. This letter has to appear as an invitation to attend meetings or other relevant events matching trade, industry or work.
• Regarding the applicants expenses, it must be stated either in the employer’s letter or the partner company’s invitation that one of both parties will be covering the applicants travel expenses during his/her stay in the Schengen Zone.
• Hotel and plane ticket reservations
• If there were previous trade relations between the two companies proof of such an event.

Travelling for training purposes

•  A certificate of enrollment at a eligible institute for the courses one will be attending in the Schengen country.

Other travel purposes/Short term (Trips for an event of any reasonable nature)

• The letter of invitation for the applicant
• The entry ticket (if any)
• In case of enrolling into a program, the meticulous description of the applicants residence in the Schengen zone, an itinerary.  Also a document that proves the purpose of this travel.

Travelling for the purpose of studying

• For starters, two application forms are to be filled.
• The letter of acceptance in a Schengen country University/College/School
• Proof that one is able to reside and financially maintain him/herself during their stay in the Schengen zone.

Travelling for the purpose of employment

• Again, two application forms must be filled
• The employment contract between the applicant and the future employer residing in the Schengen territory.

Travelling for the purpose of permanently residing in the Schengen country due to a Schengen spouse

• Two application forms must be filled as required.
• The original certified copy of the marital certificate.
• The copy of the spouse’s passport if a Schengen country citizen. If the spouse is not a Schengen country citizen but only lives in a Schengen country the copy of his/her residency permit is to be submitted as well.

As of January 1, 2015, to come to Canada as a skilled immigrant, you must use the Express Entry system. This is a process where you:

• find out if you may be eligible, and if so,
• create a free online Express Entry profile.

The information in your profile will be used to determine if you are eligible to immigrate to Canada. If you are, you will be placed in apool with other candidates and you will be ranked using several factors. Top candidates will be invited to apply and will then be able to apply online for permanent residence.

Note: Completing an online Express Entry profile or entering the pool does not guarantee that you will get an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.

Before you start

1. You will need to take a language test. We will use your test results to see if you are eligible to immigrate to Canada under one of the federal programs that are part of Express Entry.

If you get a positive result from Come to Canada, it will send you to MyCIC. If you do not already have a MyCIC account, you will need to create one. Then you will fill out an Express Entry profile to tell us about your:

• identity
• contact information
• education in more detail
• work experience in more detail
• language
• family who would come with you to Canada (dependants)

You will need:

• your passport or travel document (or other national identity document, if you do not have one of these)

• your NOC job title and code (see Before you start, above)
• your language test results (either IELTS, CELPIP or TEF)
• your Educational Credential Assessment result, if you have one (see Before you start, above)
• a copy of your written job offer from an employer in Canada, if you have one
• a copy of your provincial nomination, if you have one, and
• your personal reference code from the Come to Canada tool, if you have one. (It looks like this: JM1234567890. We use it to bring the answers you provided in the tool into MyCIC so you do not have to answer the questions again. If you go to the profile builder directly through MyCIC, you will not have one.)

To create your Express Entry profile

1. Follow the instructions to create a MyCIC account if you do not already have one. The system will give you a MyCIC number that you will use each time you sign in.
2. If you have a personal reference code from the Come to Canada tool, enter it when it prompts you. If you do not have a code, go to Step 3.
3. Enter your personal details, work experience, education, etc. (Note: You may exit the profile at any time. Your information will be saved. But, if you do not complete the Express Entry profile in 30 days, you will not be able to submit it and will have to start again.)
4. Submit your profile online.

If you meet the Express Entry criteria, including the requirements for at least one of the three immigration programs, you will be accepted into the Express Entry pool of candidates. If you are invited to apply for permanent residence, we will tell you at that time which program to apply under.

Important: Submitting an Express Entry profile does not mean you have applied for permanent residence, or that you will be invited to. You have to be invited to apply by CIC, and will then need to give us more information in your application for permanent residence.

Register with Job Bank

To finish your Express Entry profile you must register with the Government of Canada’s Job Bank if you do not already have:

• a valid job offer, or
• a nomination from a province or territory.

Job Bank is an easy, online job search tool which will connect you with employers and jobs in Canada based on your skills and experience.

If you do not register with Job Bank within 30 days your Express Entry profile will expire.

If you are eligible

The Express Entry pool

If you meet the requirements, we will place you into the Express Entry pool of candidates. You will get a message in your MyCIC account to let you know.

You will be given a score using a ranking system based on factors that have been shown to help immigrants prosper in Canada. The higher your score, the more likely you are to be invited to apply for permanent residence. We plan to draw candidates from the pool regularly and invite them to apply.

If you are accepted into the Express Entry pool, you should start getting any supporting documents you may need for your application for permanent residence. You could get an Invitation to Apply at any time.

You will have a better chance of being invited to apply if you:

• are nominated by a province or territory, or
• have a valid job offer from an employer in Canada.

You will get extra points for these factors.

Note: you must update the information in your profile if your situation changes. For example, if:

• there are changes to your work experience.
• you get a different language test result,
• you complete more education,
• there is a change in your family, such as the birth of a child or a divorce, or
• one of your children is no longer a dependent (including if they turn 19 during this time).

Being invited to apply

If you get an Invitation to Apply, you can apply for permanent residence. You will be invited only if you:

• have a valid job offer,
• have been nominated by a province or territory, or
• are among the top ranked in the pool based on your skills and experience.

If you are invited, you will have 60 days to apply online for permanent residence.

You must submit a complete application with all supporting documents or your application will be rejected.

Once you complete your application and submit it online, we will process it quickly. We plan to process most applications in six months or less. (This period starts on the date we get a complete application and ends on the date a final decision is made on your application for permanent residence.)

You will have to include copies of all documents we ask you for, like police certificates, before we will process your application. To keep your application from being rejected, you may want to get some of these documents ready while you are in the Express Entry pool.
